I’m not drinking beer now. I’m drinking coffee at Doi Chaang Coffee in the departure hall of the Chiang Mai International Airport. I am on my way to China where I will transfer to Changsha, China.
In the Northern Thai region, the ancient kingdom of Lanna, “Doi” means mountain. The mountains of Northern Thailand are where the coffee is grown. According to the coffee company, Doi Chaang’s coffee is grown at Baan Doi Chang in Chiang Rai.
It is my first time to return to China since the Covid pandemic broke out. I will be participating in a wedding—as one of the groomsmen—in Zhuzhou, Hunan province, on January 8. I’m sure I’ll do some drinking there… (Hope not too much. You know how Chinese weddings are with bai jiu being one-shooted at every table. You will know later when I write about it.)
Then I’ll be in Nanjing from January 9-13 and Shanghai from January 13-16 before flying to the U.S. via Tokyo. Look for updates about my trip after January 17 if not earlier!
Enjoy!
